Draw-1: You flip one card at a time from the stock pile. Every card eventually becomes playable. Games are quicker and win rates are higher.
Draw-3: You flip three cards at a time — only the top card is playable. This is the classic tournament standard and requires more planning.
Note: exact win rates vary by player skill and deal. These are approximate estimates based on common play experience:
Draw-1: It is estimated that 50-60% of games are winnable with perfect play. A skilled player can win roughly 45-55% of their games.
Draw-3: Only about 35-45% of games are estimated to be winnable. A skilled player wins around 25-35%. Draw-3 is measurably harder.
In draw-1, you can afford to be reactive — flip through the deck looking for cards you need. In draw-3, you must plan ahead because you only see every third card. Before drawing, ask: "Can I make a tableau move instead?" In draw-3, waste pile management becomes critical — you need to know what's in each group of three.
Choose draw-1 if: You're a beginner, you want faster games, or you play Solitaire to relax rather than challenge yourself.
Choose draw-3 if: You want the authentic classic experience, you enjoy strategic planning, or you're competitive about your win rate.
